Respect for others, discretion and decorum are hallmarks of an usher. These special qualities transcend age and gender, which make this ministry appealing to the young and young at heart, to men and women alike. Hospitality draws people together and invites them to participate in the liturgy, so ushers should be comfortable meeting and greeting people. They must always extend a sense of welcome and make others feel at home. In their attitude of stewardship, ushers ensure the assembly experiences the love of Christ.
Jesus said, “Whoever receives you, receives me, and whoever receives me receives the One who sent me.” (Matthew 10:40)
